It will sometimes happen that I post about bands I don’t listen to myself, but there are so big I figure people should know about them. A drunken middle-aged man in a bar once told me that I would never understand Japan until I could list all the members of SMAP, and perhaps he was right (though I still can’t). One such group is the boy-band Arashi.
Aside from being bigger than Amaterasu, Arashi is notable for containing two enormous stars in their own rights: Jun Matsumoto (of Hana Yori Dango fame), everyone’s favorite Japanese heartthrob, and Masaki Aiba. Both of are well-known entertainers who also act and appear on radio and television. This is mainly my excuse to show you that Aiba loves animals and speaks English:
And here’s Jun Matsumoto, who is a fine actor, in Hana Yori Dango:
I suppose that Arashi does also make music, but honestly, aren’t we already entertained?
