Move over HoverRound, there’s a new mobility device targeted towards the elderly in town. Japanese automaker Honda recently unveiled this motorized unicycle to the Tokyo press, promising that the device would not only be easy to use but unobtrusive to other pedestrians as well. Riders need only lean forward to move the device and sit upright to bring it to a stop. While it’s nice to know that Honda is all about providing methods of mobility to the elderly, as we’ll all be there someday, a unicycle doesn’t seem like a logical choice for an elderly person to operate. Add in the fact that it looks like something you’d see a bear riding in a circus and it’s hard to see this product flying off of store shelves. Still, only time will tell how this plays out. Who knows? Maybe these will actually catch on and we’ll start seeing these things popping up everywhere, with whole clans of old folks hitting the streets together…..then again, maybe not.
