Welcome to Plusle and Minun Reviews. You may be asking yourself why I chose these two as the face of my reviews, allow me to elaborate. Plusle (left) and Minun (right) hail from the world Pokemon and bear a striking resemblance to the license’s well known face: Pikachu. The obvious difference of course is that one has a positive appearance and the other a negative one.
By now, you’re probably scratching your head wondering, while that’s all nice and good, what does that have to do with a review? Simple. As opposed to most reviews you will find on video games, Plusle and Minun reviews are short but sweet, positives and negatives of a specific game with an overall letter grade. Rather than read pages of text, most people just want to know is it a good game? What’s good about it? And what’s not so good? Plusle and Minun Reviews is just that - a quick and easy list of the good as well as the bad. Additionally, there will always be a trailer at the end for all of you to check out because I know how much you all love trailers. With all that said and done, enjoy.
Valkyrie Profile: Covenant of the Plume
It’s Final Fantasy Tactics Advance, only with a story.
The Good:
+ Interesting, adult story that, when replayed, adds layers of depth unseen in most typical strategy rpg’s.
+ Well written, Shakespearian dialogue proves a good read.
+ Enjoyable sountrack and sound effects (although eerily similar to another Tri-Ace game - Star Ocean 2).
+ Involving combo system that plays off the original Valkyrie Profile, allowing you to chain attacks together with teammates.
The Bad:
- Unbalanced missions can lead to frustrating sessions of play (piece of advice: DON’T try to play through the game the first time without sacrificing someone with the plume)
- Why, in the missions that you must protect someone, do they just stand around complacently throwing out weak attacks as enemies steadily surround them and soon after, kill them?
- Serviceable graphics that fall short of it’s Playstation heritage.
- While not necessary, additional information is available to flesh out the back-story. Unfortunately, it’s walls of text.
Overall Rating: B-
