The selected tracks feature rising stars and trend-setters, each being stand-outs amongst their peers for different reasons. Personally, I think the compilation could have a larger scope of genres instead of limiting to breakbeat, DJ, hip-hop, and experimental groups if it were going to be a true cross-section of the Tokyo music scene. Rather, I think this comp should be called a “snapshot” of the Tokyo nightclub scene, but I digress.
Some of my favorite tracks are “Go Chic / Hard Date (BBK Aonamix)” by the experimental Aonami and dub-rock tune “Black Rain” from Skunk Heads. Eventhough each track is available for individual download allowing you to skip the genres you don’t like, I encourage you to check out all the songs. You never know what you might like!
