A while back, I posted my 5 Movies That Should Be Made Into An Anime which turned out to be a huge hit. Now, with Akira Kurosawa month all but over, I’m going back in for another edition of movies that should be made into an anime. And while Kurosawa’s Seven Samurai has already recieved the anime treatment, there are plenty of other Kurosawa films that could make for an excellent animated watch. So whether I’m flirting with success (or disaster), I give you 5 Kurosawa Films That Should Be Made Into An Anime.

1. Those Who Tread on the Tiger’s Tail

One of the first films to be directed by Kurosawa, Tiger’s Tail is also one of his shortest with a running time of less than an hour. Despite that, the simple and promising premise - a fugitive general on the run after his samurai lord brother orders for his execution, could prove to be an interesting, tense, and action-packed thriller. Plus, the show would have the occasional hilarity from the above pictured porter who should translate well into animated form.

2. Stray Dog

Honestly, how many detective noir anime shows are there? And I mean good ones. Stray Dog could be an interesting experiment for an OVA series with a gripping story, plenty of rain, and some serious, and I mean serious, chain smoking.

3. The Bad Sleep Well

Much like Stray Dog, how many anime are there out there full of political intrigue? An anime about a man seeking revenge for the death of his father by infiltrating and attempting to bring down the very corporation responsible sounds like an excellent thriller of a series to me.

4. Ran

I haven’t seen this film yet but Jacob has and he has only glowing words for it. Something this good has got to make a great anime.

5. Red Beard

Other than Monster, there really aren’t many hospital drama anime out there but Red Beard could be a welcome addition.

That does it for this edition of movies that should be made into an anime. Until next time.
