The annual Winter Snow Festival in Sapporo, Japan is in full swing once again. The streets are lined with frozen tourist looking at even more frozen ice and snow sculptures. Plus there is always the fun of going to a bar where all the glasses are made of ice…

Personally, the most fun aspect of the annual snow festival are the sculptures. Especially the ones made by specialize local teams. They usually reflect recent pop culture or political events in Japan. Just take a look at some of these crazy photos from this year. You’re bound to get a kick out of the ice gundam or snow Michael Jackson.

The only downside to going to the snow festival are the crowds. Hotels and plane tickets are booked 6 months in advance, and are quite expensive. It’s totally worth it though.
