It’s no surprise that the decade long recession that Japan’s economy has been suffering has hurt it’s real estate market. On the upside, this has resulted in some very interesting uses of office spaces. One such company, Orix, has decided that what Japan needs more of are aquariums.

Well, not just aquariums. Also old person’s homes and traditional Japanese hotels. But lets be honest, aquariums are always cool. Especially when they’re placed in the New Tokyo Tower. Someplace I’d never expect to see a seal.

Even more interesting is that the company isn’t trying to sell tickets to these aquariums as much as sell little plastic souvenirs. Which says a lot about Japan.
