I’m going to start a series of recaps for the three most anticipated Jdramas of Spring 2010. First, Sunao ni Narenakute or Hard to Say I Love You stars Eita, Juri Ueno and DBSK’s Jaejoong. Second is Kaibutsu-kun which stars Arashi’s Ohno Satoshi and is based on the manga/anime, which I have sadly never heard of until now. Third, Takuya Kimura, whom I will refer to as KimuTaku, stars in Tsuki no Koibito (Moon Lovers). The all star cast includes Shota Matsuda (Hana Yori Dango; Liar Game), Keiko Kitagawa (Buzzer Beat), Ryoko Shinohara (Unfair), Tsuyoshi Abe (Hana Yori Dango), and newcomer Chi Ling Lin, who starred in Red Cliff. I will do these recaps as soon as subs are available and will continue as long as I’m still interested. If I’m not, I will give a detailed reason as to why. The only reason this recap got done so fast was because the ninjas at Gods of the East Subbing team!
First is Sunao ni Narenakute. This drama is based on five people who meet on Twitter and become friends. At first, they all seem to be who they tell each other they are, but as you go further into the drama, they all become a twisted version of it. Tsukiko Mizuno (Haru), played by the amazing Juri Ueno, is a part time middle school teacher even though she tells the others that she is an actual teacher. One of her students seems to be in love with her, and her brother (hottie Yuichi Nakamura) is/was hooked on cocaine or some kind of drug. Nakajima Keisuke (Nakaji), played by Eita, is a photographer who wants to follow in his father’s footsteps. The others think that Nakaji takes photographs for famous magazines, but he really takes naughty photos for men’s magazines. Ichihara Kaoru (Linda), played by a really hot Tamayama Tetsuji, is a magazine editor. He was chosen for this position because of his good looks, and his chief just wants in his pants or him in hers. Nishimura Hikaru (Peach) is Mizuno’s friend that she drags along to meet everyone. She ends up going to a love hotel with Ichihara, but he passes out. She also might be pregnant and a cutter as you assume when you see her looking at her wrists. Park Seonsu (Doctor) is played by everyone’s favorite DBSK member Jaejoong. Everyone believes that he is a rich and successful doctor, but he is really just a salesman from a medical company who gets bullied a lot. He also has a little sister who he is trying to care for.
The drama starts with Nakaji running across Tokyo to an apartment. He is banging on the door yelling at them to open up. He says something along the lines of how they didn’t know how hard love would be and what true love was. He looks down and sees blood coming out of the door.
Here’s the lowdown on episode one. Mizuno is in love with Nakaji, but Seonsu is in love with Mizuno. Mizuno and Nakaji meet before everyone meets each other at their “Get to see everyone” party when Mizuno accidentally spills coffee on Nakaji’s pants. As she is trying to help him clean up, he calls her a pervert for “accidentally” spilling it on his pants, so she could get a feel. They all meet each other, and you can tell she really loves him, and that Seonsu loves her. Nakaji walks her home, but she hurts her leg, and the two almost kiss. Ichihara goes with Hikaru to the doctor to see if she is pregnant. The doctors tell her it is too soon to tell, so they have to wait a week. As the two are walking home, Hikaru decides to join Twitter. Seonsu’s sister, Minha, gets caught stealing reference books to which he speaks Korean and yells at her. His sister just so happens to go to Mizuno’s school. (Hmm… parent teacher conferences may get awkward.) The episode ends with Mizuno returning Nakaji’s pants, and a girl answers the door. This girl has a tattoo on her neck that matches the one on his shoulder.
Side comments: The soundtrack for this drama is super amazing. Also, there are a lot of little things throughout that point to mysteries and other things, so for the full experience, go watch it!!
