Mamora Goda’s “Mori no Asagao” Manga is soon to be adapted into Live-Action series and it is set to premiere this October on TV Tokyo network as announced on the recent issue of Manga Action. The cast, timeslot and other details are yet to be announced by Manga Action. Mori no Asagao’s story revolves around the secret friendship between a rookie prison guard and a death row felon. Goda has won the Grand Prize in the Manga Division of the 11th Japan Media Arts Festival Awards in the year 2007 for his portrayal of the modern Japanese capital punishment system.
Between 2004 and 2007 Goda serialized Mori no Asagao in Manga Action where its seven compiled volumes have sold over 250,000 copies. This September 7, Goda will release a new four-chapter mini-series spinoff in this years’s 18th issue of Manga Action.
This has to be Goda’s second Manga to be adapted into a Live-Action series after his manga “Kirakira Hikaru” which is about a young female forensics examiner. Goda’s current manga series “Hoshikuzu no Shōnen-tachi e” is currently on hiatus but it will return in the 22nd issue Manga Action on November 2.
It has been also announced last year that Jiro Shono (Tegami, Beautiful LIfe) would direct a movie version of Mori no Asagao, but after that no further announcements have been made.
