Popular JPOP singer Nakashima Mika, who is celebrating her 10th anniversary of debut this year, has recently announced that she will stop all of her activities temporarily in order to focus on recovering from her ear conditions.

There is an opening in the eustachian tube that makes her difficult to sing because she has a trouble hearing her own voice when she sings. She reportedly has been suffering from this for quite a while, but that did not stop her from continuing her singing career. The condition, however, has worsened to the point where she finally decided to acknowledge it and start taking some time off from her activities.

Her newest album “STAR” will be released on the 27th. Unfortunately, her tour “MIKA NAKASHIMA 10TH ANNIVERSARY’S SPECIAL LIVE ‘FANS AND BEST’” and television/radio show appearances will have to be cancelled.

This time, for a little while
Because of [this condition],
Please allow me to take a rest from singing and activities as a singer.
Until now, [for years] I had been allowed to work while suffering from [it].
Now I greet my 10th year,
And cannot sing due to deterioration
So I want to concentrate on treatment.
However, I am energetic.
Only my ear has caused me this slump [and]
As a singer, it’s mortifying.
To the fans who looked forward to the lives,
I apologize deeply and sincerely.
If I can deliver a song to everyone, even a day earlier,
I’ll be happy.

I can’t believe this happened to her! She is one of my favorite JPOP singers, and the news extremely saddens me. Just focus on recovering for now, Mika-chan. I wish you the best of luck, and please come back soon.
