Awesome song, good anime, amazing studio. One of BONES’s lesser known pieces, Bounen no Xam’d (Xam’d: Lost Memories) was released on the Playstation network and was later televised with an updated second opening song, also by Boom Boom Satellites.
Fellow Blogger Brian Lee actually introduced me to this anime, and I’m glad he did. It’s a pretty original storyline and reminded me a lot of Miyazaki movies (it’s got a lot in common with Princess Mononoke). It’s about a student named Akiyuki who lives on a neutral island amidst warring states. One day, however, he gets caught in a suicide bus bombing, and gets “chosen” by the white-haired girl that triggered the explosion, turning into a rampaging monster. He is calmed by a mysterious girl named Nakiami and is then forced aboard a postal ship as he tries to discover what exactly happened to him.
Though not one of BONES’s best work, I thought the show deserved a lot more attention, and I really question their decision to have it only on the PSN. The song’s really catchy, and the opening sequence is really stylistic. Give it a shot if you have time.
