Two random Korean guys decided to put up a video of them singing a song that only consists of this Japanese phrase: “arigatou gozaimasu” (means “thank you”). Wonder how this song sounds like? Check it out below.

I started laughing when I was watching this video because they managed to perfect a moody song by just using the phrase “arigatou gozaimasu.” The funny thing about it is that they were not able to pronounce “za” correctly. They pronounced it as “ja.” The reason for that is because in Korean language, there is no such thing as “za.”

The person who first referred this video said this:

I just wanted to point you to a video of a song I heard the other day in a gift shop here in southern Kyushu. I couldn’t believe my ears. Not really sure if there is some sort of hidden political message here or if it’s just a crazy song, but the stereotypical “gojaimasu” got me wondering if there was something going on here related to the Japan-Korea love/hate relationship. It’s a Korean duo singing basically two phrases from what sounds like a beginning Japanese course’s lesson one.

I personally don’t think they meant to make fun of anything Japanese. I think it was just their way of coming up with an innovative song in order to attract attention.
