A group of taxi operators in Tokyo recently teamed up with NTT DoCoMo, Tokyo Musen [J] and started a project to provide taxi customers with free WiFi Internet access for free. A total of 820 taxis in Tokyo will be equipped with WiFi, 100 of them will feature a PSP Go.

The WiFi service for the taxi’s is not official just yet but they are currently running tests on the services until the end of March 2011.

I’d imagine both companies earning lots of money. NTT DoCoMo would be earning money because it is their WiFi service, a great way to promote and the taxi drivers would earn money because.. come on, who doesn’t want to stay in a place with free WiFi. Ka-ching.
