According to Google Translate’s official blog, three new languages now have the “Listen” option available in the website. These three languages are Japanese, Korean and Arabic.
This will be really useful if you need to find out the names of any Japanese brands or places that you may come across. For example:
Yahoo! Japan
Rakuten
Gree
Mobage Town, DeNA
Mixi
Ameba, Ameblo, CyberAgent
Kakaku.com
Nico Nico Douga, Dowango
Proper Japanese Katakana or Hiragana will have to be inputted, and the sound quality is not so great when compared to say, English. 17 other languages (Czech, Chinese, Danish, Dutch, Finnish, French, German, Greek, Hungarian, Italian, Norwegian, Polish, Portuguese, Russian, Spanish, Swedish, and Turkish) have had their sound quality improved.
Be aware that there is a character limit in place- you can input up to 100 characters before the “Listen” button goes away.
