w-inds recently announced their upcoming double A-sided single, Be As One/Let’s Get It On, which is said to feature two contrasting tracks: “Be the One” is classified as a mid-tempo ballad, while “Let’s Get It On” hints more at house and electro origins. In order to satisfy fans who can’t imagine waiting until the January 26 release date, w-inds actually performed “Be the One” live at a radio program. It’s definitely worth the listen.
First off, can I say “woah?” I was actually not aware that this was a live performing for the first, oh, five listens or so. Shush, I thought the radio simply played the recorded song; it was a completely valid mistake! (Moral of the story: read carefully, kiddies.) Anyway, all of this is pretty much a roundabout testament to the w-inds’ vocal prowess, so I’ll just go ahead and state it outright: jeez, they’re good. There’s also something about the song that just pulls me in. Maybe it’s because I love ballads. Maybe it’s because I’m in love with the high notes. Instead of trying to figure it out, I think I’ll spend my time taking another listen. You should too!
