When April hits, Japanese fifth and sixth graders will become required to start learning English. Teaching English will become a heavy burden on many of the teachers as they believe that they teach detailed rules of grammar and demonstrate proper pronunciation although they aren’t required to. A lot of parents are welcoming to the lessons, but some experts think that only one lesson a week is not nearly enough to really help the children soak in the language.
