Domo, konnichiwa! There are some new developments in store for Japan’s NHK mascot. Having signed some new multi-year agreements with Big Tent Entertainment, Dark Horse Comics will be able to develop additonal merchandise based on Domo Kun.
Additionally, Concept One, the accessories manufacturer, is planning to releasing a brand new line of merchandise for the little guy, such as computer sleeves and bags. This means you will have more Domo products to add to your ever-growing collection, Domo fans.
A bit of Domo history: He originally debuted as the mascot of the NHK public broadcaster, and he went on to star in the loveable stop-motion animated shorts we see today. The Big Tent Entertainment brand agency chose Veoh, an online video service, to premier Domo in 20 shorts with vinyl figures, as well as various other items. In 2008, Target, one of America’s popular retail store chains, invited Domo to be its mascot for its Halloween costume campaign. He even featured on limited-edition Domo brand Slurpee drinks that were avaliable for purchase in the 7-Eleven convenience stores in 2009.
Domo sure has come a long way. Domo, fighting! Are you guys excited for him?
