Do you guys remember all those speculations that heartthrob Zac Efron will be playing as Shotaro Kaneda in the upcoming Hollywood live-action adaption of the classic anime, “Akira“? Well, those rumors are already confirmed to be false. But some new names have popped up as possibilities.

Warner Bros/Legendary Pictures have already sent the script to various actors, hoping to start the project soon.

Actors such as Garrett Hedlund, Michael Fassbender, Chris Pine, Justin Timberlake and Joaquin Phoenix received the script for the role of Kaneda. While actors, Robert Pattinson, Andrew Garfield and James McAvoy received the scripts for the role of Tetsuo.

This remake will be produced by Andrew Lazar together with Leonardo DiCaprio and Jennifer Davisson Killoran.
