It really should not be too much of a surprise hearing about all these different events getting canceled in Japan since the earthquake occurred. The cancellation of the 2011 Fullmetal Alchemist Festival, however, might prove to be a big blow to fans of this anime and manga series.
The show was originally scheduled for the weekend of May 21st and 22nd in Tokyo, but the planning committee decided to nullify the event after putting the current electricity shortage and traffic issues into consideration.
Ticket refunds will be available between April 6th and May 22nd. Details for refunds can be found on the Fullmetal Alchemist Official Website.
Besides the FMA fans, I can imagine those who have been looking forward to seeing the main voice actors and contributing music artists who were invited to attend the festival would be upset as well. Can’t really blame them though. Once you purchase a ticket for an event, the excitement keeps building up, right? To be notified that the event will no longer be in place is a really huge letdown. Keeping Japan’s situation in mind, I hope that the people who had anticipated the Festival will be understanding and encouraging for the country’s recovery.
