4Kids. The media distributor that aired all your favorite cartoon shows when you were a kid. Like Pokemon, Yu-Gi-Oh!, One Piece, and Shaman King. Well, it seems like those good ole days are over as 4Kids has just filed for Chapter 11 Bankruptcy.

It had previously mentioned it may seek the Chapter 11 protection after TV Tokyo and Nihon Ad Systems filed a lawsuit over 4Kids’ Yu-Gi-Oh! anime license. The companies allege that 4Kids underpaid Japanese licensors and conspired with FUNimation Entertainment to hide all income made from selling Yu-Gi-Oh! DVDs to avoid paying royalties.

It was also rumored that there was a company interested in buying 4Kids; however they posted losses and the company withdrew its offer to buy the company. The company hasn’t been faring well since last year.

That’s a pity. I remember watching Pokemon and Yu-Gi-Oh! every Saturday morning, just getting up early to watch those shows. Best of luck to them!
