Tezuka Productions has agreed to donate 870 manga volumes for the earthquake relief Great Eastern Japan. The founder’s name, Osamu Tezuka, may not be familiar to you all right now, but I’m sure most of you heard of Astro Boy, Black, and Kimba the White Lion. That is why he is credited as the “Godfather of Anime”, Japan’s “Walt Disney.”
In reality, the Tezuka Productions actually donated 920 volumes, but he only counted the ones that were aimed at children. The city that received all these books, Takarazuka in southern Japan, hopes that the books will reach all the school libraries in the city. Hopefully, these books will provide some sort of moral support for the poor children that are still suffering from the earthquake!
Thank you Tezuka san!
