A live-action adaptation of Shōhei Harumoto’s Kirin motorcycle racing manga has been set for release this fall. Claude Maki will star in the film as the lead role. The director of the film is Gitan Ōtsuru, he said about the pressure in filming what has been called ‘The motorcycle-riding bible’. The film is based on the first story in the manga “Point of No Return!

Harumoto launched the manga in Mr. Bike GB, a motor magazine in 1987, but the later chapters and the Kirin: The Happy Ridder Speedway spinoff has run in Shonen Gahousha’s Young King magazine. The 39th complied book volume of the original series shipped in Japan last September and the first volume of Happy Ridder Speedway will be shipping this month. NNT Solmare offered the original manga in English on the Nokia Ovi store for mobile phones last year, even though the manga is no longer available.
