It was just revealed that Berryz Koubou’s Kumai Yurina and C-ute’s Suzuki Airi will be starring together in the upcoming suspense horror movie, “Oosama Game,” based on author Kanazawa Nobuaki’s cell-phone novel of the same name. The movie is scheduled for a release this winter, and will also feature guest appearances by members of both groups.
Kumai will take on the lead role of high-school student Honda Chiemi, while C-ute’s Suzuki will play the role of Honda’s mysterious classmate Iwamura Ria. The storyline follows a high-school class at the mercy of an unseen “Oosama” who slowly drives the students apart.
Kumai, who hasn’t filmed since “Hotaru no Hoshi” in 2003, confessed, “I’m definitely feeling the pressure. I get nervous standing in front of the camera. Movies are different from concerts and stage plays. You have to act in front of a camera. I struggled with that, but I did my best each day with the help of the cast and crew.” Suzuki, having recently finished filming for “Vampire Stories – BROTHERS,” explained her preparations for her character’s role, “I heard that [my character] was a very mysterious person, so I spent time talking with the director and author about her facial expressions, unique way of talking, and so forth. That’s how I prepared for the role.” The movie will be directed by Tsuruta Norio and produced by AndrewNiwa-Tamon. It was also revealed that Morning Musume’s Yoshizawa Hitomi will appear in the movie as well.
