On Friday, a publicity representative for TOHO posted a photograph of the courtroom from Takashi Miike’s live-action adaptation of CAPCOM’s Ace Attorney video game franchise. The award-winning art staff that worked on Jūsan-nin no Shikaku is also working on this film as well.

The film takes place in parallel Japan, where an increase in crimes has led to a new court system. Under this new system, the defense attorney and public prosecutor have three days to battle cases out in open court, placing priority on speed instead of thorough investigation.

Computer graphics and visual effects will be used in the courtroom scenes to make them more interesting, and the movie will retain the games’ signature lines such as “Igi Ari!” (”Objection!”) and “Kurae!” (”Take That!”)

The cast stars Hiroki Narimiya (as Phoenix Wright/Ryuichi Naruhodo), Takumi Saitō (as Miles Edgeworth/Reiji Mitsurugi), and Mirei Kiritani (as Maya Fey/Mayoi Ayasato). You will most likely expect the film to open in theaters in the spring of 2012.
