Former bassist of the rock bands X Japan (then known as X) and Loudness, Taiji Sawada unfortunately passed away on July 17th at the age of 45.

A Department of Public Health staff said that he was taken to the hospital due to self-sustained injuries on Thursday evening. He was in the intensive care until his family decided to remove him from life support after he became brain-dead.

According to reports, Sawada reportedly had epilepsy and a chronic illness. Furthermore, they said Sawada’s family flew to Saipan on Saturday after learning about his suicide attempt.

The U.S. Attorney’s Office had filed a complaint, charging Sawada with interfering with the performance of a flight attendant. It was said that he allegedly became unruly as the aircraft was descending in preparation for the landing at the Saipan International Airport on Monday, July 11. He allegedly punched the plane’s window, kicked the seat in front of him, and assaulted a flight attendant. He was then restrained aboard the airplane and later arrested by the local police upon arrival.
