It’s been 30 years since Akira first hit the TV screens and Namco Bandai is celebrating by releasing a replica of the leather jacket worn by Kaneda in Akira. But don’t get too excited…the price may stop you in your tracks.
Namco Bandai will be releasing a red version and a black version of the jacket. The black jacket is based off of Kaneda’s jacket and reads “2019 A.D. 28 Neo Tokyo” on the back, the number 28 referring to Kaneda’s test research number.
The jacket will come in sizes up to XXXL and will ship January 2012. But here’s the kicker though…the jacket will cost ¥69,800, which is over $900 USD! Ouch…
Well diehard fans won’t be stopped by that price. Either way, cool anniversary gift…just pricey!
