AKB48 announces their 24th single to be titled Ue Kara Mariko

On October 29th, AKB48 held a handshaking event to celebrate the release of their single, “Flying Get”, at Aji no Moto Stadium in Tokyo. During the event, the members of AKB48 revealed information regarding their 24th single, which features 16 Senbatsu members selected from their ‘24th Single Senbatsu Janken Tournament’.

The title of their upcoming single, “Ue Kara Mariko (Mariko From the Top)”, was derived from the name of the recent Janken Tournament winner, Shinoda Mariko.

This single will be made available in four different editions: Type-A, Type-K, Type-B, and a Theater Edition. All four editions will include their coupling song, and “Noel no Yoru”. Type-A will come with a bonus song titled, “Rinjin wa Kizutsukanai (Team A)”, Type-K with “Zerosum Taiyou (Team K)”, Type-B with “Yobisute Fantasy (Team B)”, and Theater Edition with “Hashire! Penguin (Team 4)”.

After discovering that her name will be included in AKB48’s next single, Shinoda headed to her Twitter to express her excitement. She wrote, “Janken Tournament’s new single title has now been announced! The title is… ‘Ue Kara Mariko’. My name…is included!”

The title of AKB48’s upcoming single has been receiving a mixed response from fans as some questioned, “What kind of title is that?” while others commented, “Judging from the title, this is going to be amazing…”

“Ue Kara Mariko (Mariko From the Top)” is scheduled to be released on December 7th.
