Thanksgiving is just around the corner (at least in the U.S.) and if your family is like mine, you tend to invite friends over for dinner. So what if you could invite an anime character? There would be so many that I would want to invite over, but there are some specific people I wouldn’t want to invite over for fear of embarrassment, awkwardness, or…possibly destroying the house.

Naruto (Naruto)

The main character of the anime series, Naruto is has one major obsession (other than beating his rival/friend, Uchiha Sasuke) and that is RAMEN! So what does that have to do with Thanksgiving? Well…when you and your family have made a wonderful thanksgiving dinner with turkey and all of the fixings…what is Naruto going to want to eat? RAMEN!! AHHHHHH! If you’re not frustrated by that, then I’m sure the cook will be after slaving over dinner for hours just for Naruto to request instant ramen (maybe even turkey flavored ramen …gross).

Death Scythe (Soul Eater)

Death Scythe may be super powerful, but he has one annoying fault…he basically chases after every skirt that walks past him. This is the very reason why his daughter, Maka, is frequently embarrassed by him. So if you have any sisters, or a pretty mother, you may not want to bring Death Scythe home with you otherwise he may hit on any female relative you have. …awkward…

Anissina von Karbelnikoff (Kyou Kara Maou)

If you’ve never heard of Anissina von Karbelnikoff, she is the super excited scientist, who most of the characters try to hide from in the series, Kyou Kara Maou. Why do the characters hide from her? Well…they are her friends, but…she tends to use them as test subjects for her numerous experiments, which typically…don’t work or exhaust her friends; even the stern general, Gwendal, pales when he sees her and runs the other direction, but he is the one that most frequently is the subject of her tests. So why shouldn’t you invite her over for Thanksgiving? Well for one, I don’t think you or your family wants to become her test subject, and two…if an experiment goes wrong, your family or your house may not survive.

Ayame Souma (Fruits Basket)

Ah the silver-haired man that just so happens to turn into a snake if he comes into physical contact with a member of the opposite sex. This guy…will talk your ear off, which is why he’s not coming over for Thanksgiving. Ayame has his sweet points like genuinely worrying about his younger brother Yuki (whom he neglected during their childhood), but the thing that seems to annoy most of the cast of Fruits Basket is his over-exaggerated stories and NON-STOP TALKING! In fact, trying to keep up will just make you pass out in shock or disbelief. Now there are a few people that can tolerate him (Shigure and Hatori), but that probably wouldn’t be me. Oh, and did I mention that since he’s the snake zodiac, with the colder weather it is likely that he would randomly transform into a snake? That also means that you never know when he’ll transform back and be…naked. So sorry, Ayame, but I think I will pass on Thanksgiving with you.

Natsu and Gray (Fairy Tail)

Well…ok, they’re not just one character…they’re two, but they kind of come as a pair. Not only that, I just couldn’t choose which one to use to represent the series! Either way, both of them have major issues…individually and with each other! Natsu, the destructive fire dragon-slayer, and Gray, the ice magic wielder and stripper…no matter where those two go together they are always arguing. So why wouldn’t you want to invite them over? Well…unless you want your house to potentially explode because of Natsu, Gray to strip in front of your entire family, Natsu to eat everything in the house (not just what is on the table), or…they could just start fighting with each other and level your whole house. Yeah…I think I’ll pass on inviting them to my house…

Which other characters would you avoid inviting over for Thanksgiving dinner?
