It’s been ten years since the music group, Gorillaz debuted in 2001. Ironically, that is the same year that Bleach hit Weekly Shonen Jump. To celebrate, Bleach’s creator, Tite Kubo decided to turn Gorillaz’s fictional characters into Shinigami.
The drawing, as you see above, is of the four fictional members (see below) which are typically seen on their jackets. This drawing also celebrates the group’s recent release “The Singles Collection 2001-2011″ (released on November 30th).
In addition to the awesome drawing, Kubo wrote a message along with it, and it was translated to English on the Emi Music Japan’s website:
The impact from “Clint Eastwood” still lingers 10 years on.
In the same year I started to draw my current work, Gorillaz released the 1st album. For these 10 years, Gorillaz have remained very special to me. They will continue to do so for the next 10.Before the next 10 years begin, I need to listen to this album.
Thanks Gorillaz. All the best for the next 10 years.
Tite Kubo
So cool! I want him to draw a Shinigami-version of me!
