GACKT’s Hollywood debut movie “BUNRAKU” premiered in Japan on January 14th, and despite being busy, GACKT arranged a stage appearance to promote it.

Directed by Guy Moshe, “BUNRAKU” features plenty of martial arts scenes and GACKT as the samurai ‘Yoshi’ who teams up with a drifter (Josh Hartnett). This movie will show for a limited time in Japan, until the 27th.

Action-packed as it was, the filming was not without its roughness. GACKT confessed that he fainted and hit his head during one scene with Hartnett, sending him to the hospital. There it was revealed he had a high fever and had broken several of his teeth.

Of the difficulties, GACKT stated:

In my whole life, I’ve never thought that I could not accomplish something, but during the filming, I had a feeling that ‘I might give up on this’ for the first time. The expectation of the directer was quite big, including toward my action skills, so I wanted to meet the expectation, and wanted to make a great work. Thus, I decided to do things as best as I could. To be honest, I was glad I did not get injured anything worse than those.

He also answered the question of his intentions towards acting in another Hollywood movie, saying:

Hmm…I can’t tell exactly yet, but if my schedule matches and as long as it’s interesting, I would like to appear on any movie not only Hollywood movies, but also Japanese movies. I’m sure I would be able to show something interesting to the fans. I’ve always thought that I wanted to express insanity, but comedy might be interesting too. Recently, I’m also interested in Yankee movies as well, so please look forward.

I haven’t seen BUNRAKU yet (it’s currently sitting on my shelf, begging me to watch it when I have the time), but with all the hardship GACKT had to go though, I look forward to watching it and supporting his efforts.

And for your pleasure, check out some photos from the stage greet.
