Japan is no doubt known for their weird flavors in food, weird flavors in drinks, weird items in vending machines and well, almost everything there would be classified as weird - not that it’s a bad thing though. Here you can see a list of 10 weird Japanese beverages, take a look below.
Placenta 10000 jelly drink. This drink contains pig placentas but many who have tried it say it smells and tastes like peaches. For me, that will not help at all knowing that there is placenta in this. Healthy or not, don’t even bring this stuff near me!
Wasabi beer. Made in a small town called Miyamori whose specialty is wasabi. There is nothing like the taste of wasabi to wake you up but seeing as alcohol is a depressant, I wonder what kind of effects it will have.
Bilk - Beer & Milk. This weird product is made from 70% beer and 30% milk and some people who have tried it say it has a fruity taste. I’m not sure how that works but you know, whatever floats your boat. If you want to try some Bilk, head over to Hokkaido!
NEEDS Cheese drink. Yep, you heard it! Cheese in liquid form to quench your thirst. This beverage comes in three flavors - plain, yuzu citrus, and berry. I don’t think I am ready to have cheese in a non-solid form but I am curious as to how berry cheese tastes like.
Unagi Nobori or Eel soda. This drink contains eel extract and vitamins found in fish. The drink is a yellow color and people who have tried it say it tastes like broiled eel. Not a big fan of eel so I definitely won’t be trying this eel drink!
Welcia Okkikunare drink (Okkikunare literally means “make them bigger!”) This drink contains a special ingredient that is said to enhance bust size or “stimulate the female hormone system” - pretty much the same thing. Both only will your chests get bigger but your body as well because the drink contains “high-fructose corn syrup”.
Curry-flavored Lemonade soda. This is exactly what it sounds like - curry mixed with lemonade in a liquid form. I’m not sure how this combination works but I am pretty sure it will have some nasty effects on the stomach.
Yakult beer. Lots of people love Yakult and lots of people love beer so combining the two… positive results? The two drinks aren’t actually combined to become one - the Yakult is actually the topping to the beer but you could probably taste the two together.
Bottled water… in a can. It may not taste weird but the idea of having bottled water in a can is pretty ridiculous. I would probably opt for normal bottled water instead of having bottled water in a can.
Mother’s Milk. It’s basically breast milk in a carton for your convenience. I guess it’s healthy for babies who can’t experience breast milk but it could be weird for the older audience. I wonder what the factory for this product looks like!
Out of all these drinks, I think I would try Yakult beer and bottled water in a can - it seems like the most normal drinks out of all of these. What beverage would you consider drinking?
