It’s not easy to create Gundam versions of people but a team from the Real Robot Modelers collective did so at last year’s 14th All-Japan Ora-Zaku Contest with none other than AKB48’s “Iiwake Maybe” CD single cover.

Considering that many of the team members did not have the spirit to participate in the competition since they and their families were victims of the March 11 Great Eastern Japan earthquake, all of the encouragement, donations and even support from AKB48 lead them to their recreation of 12 1/144 Nobel Gundam models.

With ties, ribbons, shoe laces and other accessories built from scratch, it’s pretty cool to see all of the distinct detail of the featured members. From left to right: Atsuko Maeda, Tomomi Itano, Minami Takahashi, Mayu Watanabe, Tomomi Kasai, Amina Satō.
