For Toyota’s upcoming CM, AKB48 member Maeda Atsuko has been chosen to portray a “Doraemon” character named “Jaiko“. The CM will leap 20 years into the future and the Doraemon characters wil be played by a whole new cast: Frenchman Jean Reno will play “Doraemon”, Tsumabuki Satoshi will play “Nobita”, Mizukawa Asami will play “Shizuka-chan”, Yamashita Tomohisa will play “Suneo”, and Ogawa Naoya will play “Gian”.

Maeda will play a 28-year-old “Jaiko”, who’s dream is to become a mang artist, and she will also be in the 4th commercial, “Nobita no Moshimo na Sekai”.

The idol stated, “I’ve never expected that I would be able to become a member of the ‘Doraemon’ family. I tried my best to look like ‘Jaiko-chan’ .” She was asked about co-starring with Jean Reno, and answered, “I can brag about it for the rest of my life. I am so very happy.”

She then added, “Gradually, he started looking more and more like ‘Doraemon.’ He even had a tail on, and it was very cute.”

The CM is set to air on January 27.
