The Japanese horror phenomenon, “The Ring,” began in 1998, and has been extremely popular with a total of 4 movies. Now, the child-murderer Sadako who comes from the well is getting her own movie—“Sadako 3D”!!!
It has been confirmed that Ishihara Satomi will play the protagonist (a high school teacher), and Seto Koji will act as her boyfriend (a web designer). However, this time ‘round Sadako won’t be the only villain chilling viewers to the bone. Yamamoto Yusuke will act as the mysterious ‘Kashiwada Seiji’ who attempts to resurrect Sadako.
He is a popular artist who just disappears one day. Rumors spread that he was distributing a video tape that caused people to commit suicide (sounds familiar, doesn’t it?) and left because the police began to pursue him. Other details on his character, such as how he found out about Sadako or why he wants to bringer her back, are unknown.
Yamamoto commented on playing the role of a villain for the first time, “It was difficult to grasp the idea when they said that I was going to play a villain in a horror movie. Since I couldn’t feel sympathize with the role at all, I played it with ‘no feeling’.” He followed up, saying, “This might be a horror movie, but the filming process was actually very cheerful and a lot of fun.”
“Sadako 3D” will open in Japan on May 12th. It is based on an original story by Suzuki Koji, the mastermind behind the entire series.
I’m a little excited about this. I know a lot of people aren’t a fan of horror movies (I wasn’t until I became a teenager and began to enjoy the rush of horror adrenaline), but this story proves to seem very interesting. I like how they are adding in a new character to support Sadako.
