Artist Riusuke Fukahori showed his debut collection at London’s ICN gallery from December 1, 2011 to January 11, 2012, transforming the showroom into a world that is a Goldfish Salvation.
Fukahori graduated in the class of 1995 from Aichi Prefectual University of Fine Arts and Music. Five years later, after struggling with his artistic vision, he became inspired by his pet goldfish, and that became the central theme of his art ever since.
I found a link to this exhibit by accident really, but what I saw really just blew me away. I couldn’t believe these goldfish were actually painted!! At first, I though them to be sculptures caught in some kind of clear material, but Fukahori actually uses acrylic paint, layering it through a complicated system of clear resin to create the 3D and lifelike affect.
It was too amazing not to share, so I hope everyone enjoys looking at these beautiful pieces of art. I’ve included a few photos below, but if you want a more detailed view of each display, head on over to Dominic Alves‘ gallery.
Also, if you’re interested in seeing the man at work, check out this video, comprised of clips showing Fukahori fully concentrated on his craft.
