Recently DIR EN GREY announced the cancellation of all touring activities across North America. At first fans were left in the dark as to why, but it has been revealed that DIRU’s vocalist Kyo needs vocal surgery.

Kyo has been diagnosed with vocal cord nodule and voice disorder, and according to the agency, he needs an early surgery due to the deterioration of his pharyngeal polyp. He will continue to undergo examinations by his doctor, but it is unsure when Kyo will resume band activities…

…Not like I want him to, at this moment. I’m sure he’s going through a lot of pain and uncertainty as it is. When I first heard about the tour cancellation, I was disappointed, but then I became worried because Diru has been touring nearly non-stop since their American debut. I really, really hope it isn’t too serious or life-altering for Kyo-san… I really respect him and Diru’s music, so I hope to see them continue on their journey after this.
