In Japan, Valentine’s Day is the day when girls give guys chocolates and White Day (exactly one month later) guys return the girls’ affections (or rejects them). So which 10 school-aged (middle school to college) anime characters would I want to give my valentine’s day chocolates to?

Sohma Yuki (Fruits Basket)
First up, the adorable rat prince of Fruits Basket, Sohma Yuki. Yuki is the Student Council President and the hottest guy in school, so hot that he has his own Prince Yuki fan club. But being the hottest guy in school comes with its own problems like girls literally throwing themselves at you, which is a major problem for Yuki considering he turns into a rat when hugged by the opposite sex. So when a girl throws herself at him, he tends to push them away giving people the idea that he is cold and hates people. However, we come to find that he’s actually a warm-hearted guy that keeps his distance from people to protect people’s memories. So I would give my chocolates to Yuki, not because he is the hottest guy in school, but because of his warm heart and his smile.

Fuji Shuusuke (Prince of Tennis)
Second, I would give another pack of chocolates to Fuji Shuusuke, the tennis prodigy from Prince of Tennis. Fuji is my absolute favorite character on Prince of Tennis because of his gentle nature with little quirks, like…being able to handle wasabi-zushi like it’s nothing special or drinking Inui’s gross special juice and claiming it tastes good (ick). However, even though Fuji is a gentle and kind guy, he is also very protective of his friends. Maybe with any luck I will become good friends with him and he’ll be protective of me.

Tsukimori Ren (La Corda d’Oro)
Tsukimori Ren is the next person on my list to slip some valentine’s day chocolates into his locker. Ren is an incredible violinist from La Corda d’Oro, who has what it takes to make it as a professional musician like his parents. He tends to come off as an arrogant jerk, who only focuses on his music. However, when he meets Kahoko, the softer side to Ren slowly comes out not only in person, but in his music too. Maybe some of my valentine’s day chocolates will give me a chance to see the softer side of Ren too.

Konno Touru (Princess Princess)
My fourth pack of chocolates will be going to Konno Touru of Princess Princess. Touru is a sweet, pretty boy, who transfers to an all-boys school, and because of his feminine look he is chosen to be one of the school’s three princesses. He goes along with it for the financial benefits so that he doesn’t burden his relatives, who are taking care of him. Anyway, this poor guy tends to get mistaken for a girl all the time…even without the frilly dresses on…so I think this pretty boy could use some love…and not from other guys for once.

Hitachin Hikaru/Hitachin Kaoru (Ouran High School Host Club)
Next we have the two troublemakers of Ouran High School’s Host Club, Hitachin Hikaru and Kaoru. These two red-haired boys are playful and mischievous, which tends to drive Tamaki up a wall. However it is their interactions that brings a smile to my face, and plus…there’s two of them! So…let’s give them some chocolate and maybe the extra sugar will create some more fun!

Fang Li Ren (Hanasakeru Seishounen)
Finally, the last person on my list I would probably have to give to in person because…he’s not exactly in school. That person is 19-yrs old, Fang Li Ren, the head of the Fang family. Li Ren is another character that has an arrogant air around him, but even though that is the case, he has a soft spot for one person, Kajika Burnsworth. He grew up with Kajika on a secluded island and even though they’re no longer on the island, Li Ren is always there to watch out for Kajika. So, even though Li Ren only has eyes for Kajika, I think his loyalty to her is what makes me want to give him some of my valentine’s chocolates.

Who would you give your Valentine’s Day chocolates too?

Anyway, here’s a quick clip just to get you thinking…
