The news was revealed in the 33rd issue of ‘Gekkan Shonen Jump‘ and Toriyama will be directly involved in writing the script for the movie. According to the mangaka, “While retaining the original atomsphere, I plan on giving it a little bit of a modern flavor. I believe it’s going to turn out to be an entertaining work just like the old days.”
“Dragon Ball Z” will be directed by Hosoda Masahiro (’DIGIMON XROS WARS‘, ‘Yu-Gi-Oh! Duel Monsters‘) and written by Watanabe Yusuke (’GANTZ‘, ‘20 Seiki Shonen‘). Additionally Yamamuro Tadayoshi (’Dragon Ball’, ‘Hakaba Kitaro‘) has been selected as the animation director, and Kato Hiroshi (’Shinseiki Evangelion‘) will serve as the art director.
The movie is due to release on March 30, 2013.
