From Ningin: According to the source, “Christopher Handley, the Iowa man on trial for possessing manga ‘drawings of children being sexually abused,’ was sentenced on Thursday to six months in prison. Following this sentence, Handley must serve three years of supervised release and five years of probation. Both of these terms will start upon his release from prison and will run concurrently. Handley also agreed to forfeit all seized materials, including his computer. During Handley’s supervised release and probation, Handley must also “participate in a treatment program, to include psychological testing and a polygraph examination, as directed by the U. S. Probation Officer.” According to earlier court documents, this last provision is “intended to provide [Handley] with diagnosis and treatment for sexually and/or gender identity or other mental health issues.”
I think it’s disgusting to be even writing/publishing/reading these kinds of manga. I think it should be illegal personally. To have those kinds of things available, just lets pedophiles run wild.

Oh. My. God. I don’t even know if i need words for this. Their first foray into videogame mash ups, The Ocarina of Rhyme, got Team Teamwork(the masterminds behind the project) quite a bit of attention from the internet. Combining popular Hip Hop and Rap artists with music found in Ocarina of Time created such a weird vibe that actually, in some songs, worked.
Now they are back at it again, but this time tackling a whole different fan favorite: Final Fantasy VII. More »

From Ningin: Mixr League Gaming fans, are you ready? Tomorrow marks the start of yet another one-day MLG match pitting Mixr bloggers vs. Mixr users. Looking at the official roster, only one thing is certain: Competition is going to be fierce. More »

Popcorn and the movies. Television without commercials. Yoo-Hoo and a glazed donut. Some things in life are just perfect for each other. Video games and music are one of those things. While gamers are unable to control the requirement to earn that last gold trophy/achievement, they are able to control what pumps through their speakers while doing so with custom in-game soundtracks. To help change up that stale rotation of old-time favorites, the Wirebot bloggers will be providing a suggested playlist every Friday. Our recommendations this week include songs from: BOA, 2PM, MC Frontalot and a few others. More »

From Wirebot:
Maybe you’re interested in how games are developed. Maybe you just like listening to Nintendo Executives interview one another and make references to American TV Shows. Perhaps you’re a Legend of Zelda fan, interested in how your little piece of gaming nostalgia was created. Either way, you might be at least a little interested in the latest Iwata Asks, where Nintendo President Satoru Iwata chats to Toshihiko Nakago, Takashi Tozuka and Eiji Aonuma about Link’s Awakening, the first hand-held Zelda game for the Nintendo Game Boy. From Ningin: Is the pen mightier than the sword? Or to be specific, are Mixr bloggers stronger than Mixr users when it comes to MLG matches? One way to find out is to pit them against each other in a 1-day MLG match this Saturday, Jan. 30. As team captain of the Mixr blogger team, it’ll be interesting to go against our very own users…with Hoc as team captain of the Mixr user team. More »

From Ningin: Have you ever played “What’s in the box?” where you touch something and try to figure out what it is? Well, as an Arashi girl, I see it quite often. Normally, it’s something like a wig or something living like an octopus or squid. In this Himitsu no Arashi-chan (HnA, p.s. I think it means Arashi’s secrets although I might be wrong.), Aibu Saki (Zettai Kareshi, Absolute Boyfriend) wants to play it. It’s all fun and games until Mastumoto Jun gets a REAL surprise. I really hope you all watch it to the end becuase I really fell off my chair laughing and got an ab workout as well. Ch-ch-check it out! More »

From Ningin: Boy what an intense weekend of flash gaming! Going into this I really didn’t think the teams were all that balanced. With only three total points separating the first and last team, it seems we have some real competition. WireMeis first getting a 24 out of a possible 36 points. Team Mixr Users is second trailing by just one point. BlitzKuTek is not far behind, trailing by 2 points. Ningin, the once dominant team heading into this tournament, is surprisingly last trailing WireMe by 3. Let’s get to the breakdowns: More »

From Girlybubble: When parents upload videos of their children online, sometimes it is cute, while other times it is not. In those cases where it is not cute, a child looks lost and awkward while obviously being directed by his parents off camera. But those other times when it is cute, the child is a ham for the camera and comes off with a certain charm about him. The five year old Japanese boy with a ukulele falls under the category of the latter. His videos have been making their rounds on the internet since late last year, and he has garnered a small cult following. That is not surprising find out. Whenever I watch his videos, I have a huge smile on my face. More »
