Growing up it’s always been a childhood dream of mine to become Ariel from The Little Mermaid — red hair, sea shell bra and all. There wasn’t a pool in sight that I didn’t reenact Ariel emerging from the water to do the famous, fierce Ariel hair-toss-out-of-the-water move. From Ningin: Yuu Watase is commonly known as the Queen of Modern Shoujo Manga. She is one of the most appreciated mangakas (manga artists) of shoujo manga. She also does bishounen since she frequently uses pretty boy characters. She was born March 5, 1970 in Osaka, Japan. She won the Shogakukan Manga Award for shōjo for Ceres, Celestial Legend in 1998. She writes her own stories and draws her own characters. She is amazing at what she does. In Shojo Beat, she even did a long running segment on how to draw and create your own manga. More »

From Ningin: Here’s an interesting concept. If you like boat rides, anime/manga, and cosplay and in live in the United Kingdom, then you’re in luck. There’s a convention called the Cosplay Cruise where you get to sail on the Dixie Queen down the Thames River. Sounds exciting. More »
