From Ningin: Today I will feature a dedicated and talented cosplayer, twinklee of deviantART, cosplaying as Astharoshe from Trinity Blood. To tell you the truth, I haven’t seen nor read Trinity Blood so I don’t know if this costume is accurate. All I can say is that twinklee did one heck of a job creating this masterpiece of a costume. From Ningin: Everyone loves Hello Kitty. Even evil villains. Take Star Wars‘ Darth Vader for example. For the next spinoff of the series, Star Wars: The Kitty Wars, Vader chooses Hello Kitty to be the official mascot of his empire. He even ditched his old costume for one that’s more suitable for the empire’s image. More »

From Ningin: I’m currently playing Final Fantasy X and was in the mode to post Final Fantasy cosplay for Picture of the Day when I stumbled upon this adorable picture (looking at Yuna’s cosplayer, I assume it’s from FFX2). They both cosplay their characters, Tidus and Yuna, very well. They even share a real kiss! More »

Everyone loves cosplay! While I myself do not have the time or patience it takes to craft these real life adaptions of our favorite characters, I applaud those who do! This week was a busy week here at Rekuru with 2009 drawing to a close and countless End of the Year Specials across Rekuru and its sister-sites. With posts ranging from the 10 best DS games of the year, to a 2010 wishlist, to even a look back at Japan this past year, this was a trip down memory lane you don’t want to miss. Also worth mentioning was the announcement of Akira Kurosawa month which is guaranteed to be amazing. Just saying. More »
Comic cons, anime festivals, and the like have run their course this year. With 2009 almost at an end, I thought it would be fun to look back at some of the best cosplay of the year. And while the many festivals and conventions have come and gone, 2010 is around the corner with more cosplay goodness waiting to be had. More »

A while back, in August to be precise, I attended San Francisco’s J-Pop Festival in honor of the grand opening of New People, a store/art gallery for everything japanese. Besides plenty of girls dressed up in cute dresses, Yoshitaka Amano made an appearance (renowned artist most known for his work on Final Fantasy and Vampire Hunter D), and even a fashion show was on for the day’s events. I debated with myself whether to post this up here as it’s now November but I decided what the hell as any J-pop is better than none. So with that said, I hope you enjoy the pictures. More »
