Welcome back fellow RPG enthusiasts to another edition of RPG bonanza. Last week we looked at the many ports and remakes for the Nintendo DS, with many of the titles originally hailing from the Super Nintendo era. Of course, you might have already played those games (to death) and are looking for something a little fresher. We’ve got you covered. This week, we’re looking at the many sequels and spin-offs from established franchises available on the DS. More »

While gamers in Japan have been delving into the world of Dragon Quest IX for some time now, gamers here in North America have been left wondering when we’ll get to lay our dirty mitts on the new installment of Dragon Quest (or if you’re impatient like me you’ve been playing the japanese version). Today marks the beginning of a new feature here on Rekuru - The Weekly Bento. Much like a bento box is packed full of bite-sized portions of varying foods, this new feature takes this past week’s happenings here on Rekuru and provides them to you in easily accessible, catagorized portions. Think of it as a week in review only with a Rekuru twist. Here’s what happened last week: More »

Welcome to Plusle and Minun Reviews. You may be asking yourself why I chose these two as the face of my reviews, allow me to elaborate. Plusle (left) and Minun (right) hail from the world Pokemon and bear a striking resemblance to the license’s well known face: Pikachu. The obvious difference of course is that one has a positive appearance and the other a negative one.

By now, you’re probably scratching your head wondering, while that’s all nice and good, what does that have to do with a review? Simple. As opposed to most reviews you will find on video games, Plusle and Minun reviews are short but sweet, positives and negatives of a specific game with an overall letter grade. Rather than read pages of text, most people just want to know is it a good game? What’s good about it? And what’s not so good? Plusle and Minun Reviews is just that - a quick and easy list of the good as well as the bad. Additionally, there will always be a trailer at the end for all of you to check out because I know how much you all love trailers. With all that said and done, enjoy.

From Wirebot:

You heard right: The good Sonic The Hedgehog games are getting a release on the Nintendo DS system in one fine little cartridge! Finally, we will be able to play (legally) all the awesome original hedgehog inspired games that plagued our childhood. Or if you are not an old man like me, you will get to finally experience these masterpiece platformers of old in a new portable way, whenever you like. With the first four original Sonic games on this compilation(Sonic The Hedgehog, Sonic The Hedgehog 2, Sonic The Hedgehog 3 and Sonic & Knuckles ), as well as goodies like pictures and videos to unlock, this release will be the perfect thing to pick up once the holiday rush is over and your craving some old school action. That is, if you haven’t bought these same games already within the past couple years. More »

Unfortunately, not all ninja games for the Nintendo DS are as good as monday’s Ninjatown. Like Tenchu: Dark Secret for example. Take everything you like about Tenchu. Got all that? Good. Now throw it all out the window. What’s left you ask? Tenchu: Dark Secret, perhaps one of the worst titles in the franchise’s history. More »

I’m not going to lie. After seeing the overly-cutesy visuals of this game, I figured this game wasn’t for me. A grown man of all things playing a game like this! After swallowing my pride and giving the game a chance though, I discovered a fun and addicting tower defense game that’s hard to put down. More »

From Ningin: Lately, we’ve been reflecting a lot on the things in life that are most dear to us. Things in life we are most thankful for and things we genuinely appreciate. Given that it’s Thanksgiving week and it is still indeed, Ninja Month, we’ve all come to the conclusion that all of us at Ningin, Rekuru and Wirebot are thankful for the same thing: Ninjas. Believe it or not, ninjas happen to be our driving force in life. Key figures we look up to, even! We’re also very thankful for you. To express our gratitude, I present to you the Ninja Thanksgiving Special. More »
