In celebration of its 10 year anniversary, my ode to the Playstation 2 (yes it’s been 10 years, feel old don’t you?) continues. Today, we look at a classic, must-play title for the system - God of War. If you haven’t played it yet, it’s time my friend. And with it now available on the Playstation 3 via the God of War Collection, you have no excuses. More »

Call me old fashioned if you want but ever since I recently purchased a Playstation 2, I’ve been seriously rocking out on it. While you wild and crazy kids, with your new-fangled next generation graphics, have been Modern Warfaring it up, I’ve been battling cyborgs to save a futuristic Tokyo and most recently, exploring the dilapidated environs of Silent Hill. Throw in the fact that I spent a quarter of what I would have buying Modern Warfare 2, and you’re looking at a very happy starving artist.

That’s why, with the 10 year anniversary of the PS2 upon us, I’ve decided to look back at the little black box with year-long coverage and an entire month special in October. But perhaps I’m getting a little ahead of myself. For now, you can look forward to new Plusle and Minun reviews, all devoted to the many games for the Playstation 2. So whether you’ve played your PS2 to death or you’ve never touched a dual shock controller (gasp!), hopfully this ongoing coverage will encourage you to pick up a controller and play these aging gems. Whoever said being late to the party is a bad thing? Whether it’s a dress-up/dress-down dinner party, birthday party, or even bachelor party, being a tad bit tardy has its advantages. Dodging that uncivil ex or avoiding petty small talk are just some of the benefits you too can enjoy. Besides all of that though, having an enormous library to choose from and some seriously discounted prices are big bonuses too.

Wait, what? I’m of course talking about arriving late to the Playstation 2 party. OK, so it’s not a party per say but with this year marking the ten year anniversary of everyone’s favorite little black box, we here at Rekuru are getting that party started right. All year, you can look forward to the the return of Plusle and Minun reviews which will be covering the many games of the PS2. Along with that, this upcoming October will mark the Month of the Playstation 2 with all month coverage on the system. So, with all of that said and done, I’m kicking the party off with the first edition of Plusle and Minun reviews for 2010 in celebration of our Akira Kurosawa month. Enjoy. More »

Welcome to Plusle and Minun Reviews. You may be asking yourself why I chose these two as the face of my reviews, allow me to elaborate. Plusle (left) and Minun (right) hail from the world Pokemon and bear a striking resemblance to the license’s well known face: Pikachu. The obvious difference of course is that one has a positive appearance and the other a negative one.

By now, you’re probably scratching your head wondering, while that’s all nice and good, what does that have to do with a review? Simple. As opposed to most reviews you will find on video games, Plusle and Minun reviews are short but sweet, positives and negatives of a specific game with an overall letter grade. Rather than read pages of text, most people just want to know is it a good game? What’s good about it? And what’s not so good? Plusle and Minun Reviews is just that - a quick and easy list of the good as well as the bad. Additionally, there will always be a trailer at the end for all of you to check out because I know how much you all love trailers. With all that said and done, enjoy.
