Today’s video-of-the-day features DJ OZMA with “Age Age Every Night” (pronounced ah-ge because it’s Japanese and not the English ‘age’). This is just a dance party rolled into a little box. It’s epic, hands down. You’ll want to get up and listen to the DJ as he tells you to “bounce with me.” More »

Today’s video-of-the-day features La;Cen-zhow heading straight for the “Crash.” This is a bit of an older visual kei band (the golden days of VK), as shown by the style of the PV and music. I miss videos like these, with the almost demented presentation of the band and film effects. The music goes through some nice ranges of style, instrumentally and vocally. There is an almost operatic quality to it with the dramatic rising and falling of the melody’s tone. More »

Today’s video-of-the-day features Flipside telling you “a piece of the wish” as they goof around in this fun PV. The song is more poppish-rock, really easy listening and just bouncy. These guys are all natural as they act like normal, everyday friends having a blast. They’re very entertaining to watch. More »

Today’s video-of-the-day features traditional folk group Rin’ admiring the “Sakura Sakura.” More »

Today’s video-of-the-day features the YOSHIDA BROTHERS really rocking it up on their shamisen in “Kodo!” The Shamisen is a traditional Japanese instrument that was created and played in their historical period by geisha, in bunraku, etc. While it is still played in the traditional way today, there are some people who just want to rock out… and that’s where the YOSHIDA BROTHERS come in. I’m telling you, it’s freakin epic, so don’t miss this. More »

Today’s video-of-the-day, courtesy of blind_phoenix, features exist†trace flipping things around a bit in “True.” And just to confuse people further, all of the members really are female. I love this band for their badas_ary… I mean, these girls are fierce. The song is pretty rocksome with its power guitars, but the vocals are smooth. The PV plays around with some fun black-and-white effects; besides that, it’s a pretty straight-forward video. More »

Today’s video-of-the-day features DIAURA with “Shitsu Tsubasa no Seiiki.” This is my first time hearing this band, but I’m already really drawn to their sound and style. Their clothes are really ornate with lots of layers, and the music, while still rock, isn’t too heavy—it has a light feel to it. The vocalist, Yo-ka, also sings with a very mellow tone. More »

Today’s video-of-the-day features 80’s rock legend LUNA SEA missing you in “Love Song.” I couldn’t help myself since this is the month of love and romance and all that… Oh the things you miss out on when you don’t have a boyfriend. This song is quite beautiful. It is the final PV from LUNA SEA before they went on hiatus. Thankfully, they’re coming back!! The PV has some very artful camera angles… really nice close-ups on the sweaty members of the band among other images. More »

Today’s video-of-the-day features alter-ego band MY DRAGON, and they have a “Nijigen Complex.” They are the alternate of VK group Kiryu (check out their original style in a previous PV of the Day post). Alter-ego bands are usually very shocking in appearance (I have found), and MY DRAGON is no different… Half the time I wonder why I’m watching this PV, while on the other hand, I’m so amused that I just keep hitting the replay button. And yes, these are all men making fun of the princess theme. More »

Today’s video-of-the-day features vistlip with “SINDRA.” The PV is very interesting, to say the least. When the cameras aren’t spinning in circles around the band playing their instruments, they are capturing moment with the members that are a bit… random as they all lounge in a room. I’m a fan of it, however, and the song is amazing—really soft rock and melodious. More »
